Animation Reel

Alphega Part 1

Alphega, Part 1 is a short animated film I produced while in Sheridan College’s Post-Grad Computer Animation Program. It’s the first couple of minutes of what I hope will eventually be a 14 minute film. I won’t go into too much commentary on what’s happening in this first part of the film because that might reveal more than I want to and possibly spoil it for the viewer when I finally present the entire film. I will say that the full story line has quite a deep curve to it and the character goes through some extremes during the ensuing adventures – this first part is really just introducing the character. It’s sort of a teaser for the film I still hope to create.

The programs used to produce this: Maya, Mudbox,  After Effects, Photoshop and Premiere Pro.

Website & Business Animations

This is a quick animation I created for GreenBytes’ website and trade shows using a fairly simple clean look and playful visual metaphors to convey the benefits their product offers. Note: There’s no audio with this and yes, it would be better with some accompanying music. Also, this wasn’t really directed towards the general public but rather, is aimed at the IT professionals who deal with computer virtual reality systems. Their website: getgreenbytes.com

If you think you might like an original, creative, funny or imaginative animated short to promote your business, product and website, drop me a line and we’ll see if we can come up with some unique new ideas! I can also create an original animation for any personal reason you can think of.

Animatics

Here’s a couple of animatics I produced while in Sheridan College’s Post-Grad Computer Animation Program. If you’re not familiar with the term “animatic” , they are also referred to as “leica reels” and are used in the earlier stages of the film production process,  combining storyboards within a time-line (and animating them in a more minimalistic way) and adding some audio. This stage helps establish the length, shot editing and general structure/feel of the film. Often, animatics are just black and white storyboard sketches however these two samples are colourized because that was a requirement of these projects.

The Arteest

Freelance illustration and fine art have been the main focus of much of my career but that’s now changing, having recently completed a computer animation program at Sheridan College, I’m now exploring the possibilities of this new field of creativity. I also have experience with animatics and creating storyboards for the film and TV industries. I’m currently based in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
