Alphega, Part 1 is a short animated film I produced while in Sheridan College’s Post-Grad Computer Animation Program. It’s the first couple of minutes of what I hope will eventually be a 14 minute film. I won’t go into too much commentary on what’s happening in this first part of the film because that might reveal more than I want to and possibly spoil it for the viewer when I finally present the entire film. I will say that the full story line has quite a deep curve to it and the character goes through some extremes during the ensuing adventures – this first part is really just introducing the character. It’s sort of a teaser for the film I still hope to create.
The programs used to produce this: Maya, Mudbox, After Effects, Photoshop and Premiere Pro.

Here’s a couple of animatics I produced while in Sheridan College’s Post-Grad Computer Animation Program. If you’re not familiar with the term “animatic” , they are also referred to as “leica reels” and are used in the earlier stages of the film production process, combining storyboards within a time-line (and animating them in a more minimalistic way) and adding some audio. This stage helps establish the length, shot editing and general structure/feel of the film. Often, animatics are just black and white storyboard sketches however these two samples are colourized because that was a requirement of these projects.
